I bought the first netbook for mobility, so that the battery life is an important consideration. I always get ~ 7h, the battery life with a full load, so that for me. I'm not a heavy user of the Netbook for the whole week, so that gives me enough juice for 1x/Week usually free.
Some other reviews are showing concerns XP SP3 and / or internal memory of 1 GB. For my purposes - in particular the Office suite and web browsing - I have zero complaints of memory, SP3 "slow" or similar. I also have problems with the touchpad and single button was integrated and found it (also easy to use, although I personally prefer a touchpoint).
I have my configured for dual-boot with a Linux operating system and were pleased with the interoperability between the operating system hardware. I recommend the Acer Aspire One to anyone looking for a netbook relatively inexpensive, with a solid performance, long battery life and a lightweight mobile platform.
One final note - even though I ordered the "new" came to me already opened directly from the manufacturer of packaging, clearly was not "new". The operating system was still running during the opening sequence of installation so that it was restoring the factory settings, or has never yet been performed. I was with Amazon customer service, which allows me the product for a replacement, get a full refund or receive a discount of 15% and keep the netbook returns happy.
